After the Piku star’s widely discussed women empowerment video, a male version of the video telling the other side of the story goes viral
Deepika Padukone has become a feminist crusader of some sorts. After lashing out at a leading daily for posting her cleavage pictures, the dusky beauty donned a new role of empowering women across India by churning out a video called My Choice with Vogue. While the video went viral and was appreciated by many, few found major loopholes in the Vogue empowerment campaign directed by Homi Adajania and it seems like with every passing day this number is gradually increasing.Deepika’s take on women empowerment is considered as male bashing video by many and a few points made in the My Choice seem to be too trivial and even unacceptable in some cases. As a reply to this superficial feminism, a male version of the My Choice video has taken the internet by storm. The male version talks about the man’s side of story, stating that adhering to the social norms or not is his choice, marrying or not is his choice, love or lust again his choice. The video drives home the most important point about cheating and adultery, almost mocking Deepika’s Vogue empowerment video. The male version clearly states that they don’t support cheating or sex outside marriage, unlike the Piku diva’s feminist version. In fact in the male version, they have added a small clipping of a man getting abused and humiliated by women in public for adultery.
While I am all for women empowerment and feminist issues, I am pretty clear that empowerment doesn’t mean that you are above the rest. It means that your equals with everyone. Watch the video and let us know if you agree with me:
